《新闻战线》The Press（月刊）曾用刊名：新闻业务，1956年创刊，是以全国记协机关刊物的名义出版，编辑部和办公地点设在人民日报社，实际编辑工作由人民日报负责。在杂志的前两期，封面上都赫然印有“中华全国新闻工作者协会”的字样。从第3期起，刊物改由人民日报社出版。杂志初创为双月刊，1958年1月变为月刊，当年10月改为半月刊，到1961年起又改为月刊。自1960年下半年起，杂志改由人民日报、新华社、全国记协三家合办，刊名改称新闻业务，仍由人民日报编辑出版，直至1966年6月“文革”爆发被迫停刊。1978年12月，以新闻战线刊名恢复出版，起初为双月刊，1980年改为月刊，由新闻战线杂志社编辑出版至今。

《新闻战线》走过半个多世纪，已成为我国影响最大的综合性新闻业务刊物，在综合类新闻学术期刊中唯一一家入选并蝉联国家期刊奖百种重点期刊。共有百余篇所刊论文获得中国新闻奖，获奖总数及每年获奖篇数，均居全国新闻专业刊物首位。中宣部主办的宣传工作、新闻阅评多次发文介绍新闻战线刊发的文章。以体现权威性、追求前沿性、注重实践性、加强服务性为宗旨，研究新闻传播规律，探求新闻宣传艺术，力求提高舆论引导水平，积极反映媒体在改革创新中的探索，反映受众意愿，交流时代信息，展示研究成果。
